HabitForge → Odessa: Facebook page reactivation kit

Status: ready to execute · Owner: Sandon · Created: 2026-07-05

Repurposing a dormant Facebook asset: the habitforge.com page (~2.7k followers, active 2009–2015, quiet since). The audience is a decade-cold self-improvement / personal-growth crowd. This doc is the plug-and-play kit for renaming it and reactivating it toward Odessa.

Strategic read (why + expectations)

  • The follower count overstates the value. An 11-year-dormant page gets throttled hard by Facebook's reach algorithm; realistic re-engaged reach is tens of people, not thousands. Treat this as a free warm breadcrumb, not a growth channel — ~30 min of setup, not a strategy pillar.
  • The real asset is the psychographic, not the count. HabitForge followers were self-improvement / transformation-minded. That's the same underlying want Odessa serves (become a truer version of yourself) — just via story instead of streak-tracking. That continuity is the entire bridge message.
  • Target brand = Odessa (the "change your real life" front door), the natural heir to a habit-change audience. If the front-door brand later changes (HiveJournal umbrella, etc.), the copy below is a find-and-replace.

Facebook mechanics (before you click)

  • Rename via Settings → Page Info. A drastic rename triggers a manual review (can take days). Followers carry over — you don't lose them.
  • Facebook keeps a public name-change history and may notify followers — that's your re-introduction moment, not something to hide.
  • Don't rename repeatedly in a short window — that's what gets pages flagged/locked. Pick the name once.
  • Interim name: Odessa — formerly HabitForge for ~2–3 months, then drop the suffix. Same logic for the cover image's "formerly HabitForge" line.
  • Grab the vanity URL and refresh profile/cover art in the same session so a returning visitor lands somewhere coherent.

Pinned bridge post

If you followed HabitForge, this is for you.

Years ago, this page was about changing your life one habit at a time. Streaks, check-ins, the daily discipline of becoming someone a little different than you were yesterday.

That instinct never went away. It grew up.

We kept asking a harder question: why is lasting change so hard? And it turns out the thing that actually moves people isn't another tracker or another streak. It's story — seeing a version of yourself you didn't know was available, and walking toward it.

That's what we built next. It's called Odessa, and it's about the same thing this page was always about: becoming who you're trying to become. Just with a better tool than willpower.

Same instinct. New name. Glad you're still here. 🌱

Reactivation sequence (space ~3–5 days apart)

Post 1 — the honest reintroduction (a day or two after the pin)

A confession: this page went quiet for a long time.

Not because habits stopped mattering — but because we figured out something bigger was underneath them. You don't change by forcing new behavior. You change when you can picture a different life clearly enough to move toward it.

We're back, under a new name — Odessa — chasing exactly that. More soon. If this still speaks to you, stick around.

Post 2 — the reframe, not the pitch

Here's the shift that took us a decade to name:

Habit tracking asks what will you do today? The better question is who are you becoming?

One is a checklist. The other is a story — and stories are the only thing that's ever actually rewired a person.

That's the whole idea behind Odessa. [link] — take a look and tell us what you think.

Post 3 — the invitation / soft CTA

If you've ever set a goal, hit the streak, and still felt like the same person underneath — this is for you.

Odessa is a different way in. Not more discipline. A clearer picture of who you're walking toward.

Come see what we've been building: [link]

And genuinely — if you were here in the HabitForge days, drop a comment. We'd love to know you're still out there. 👇

Sequence notes:

  • Post 1 leads with honesty about the silence — for a cold audience, acknowledging the gap outperforms pretending you never left.
  • The "who are you becoming vs. what will you do" reframe is the spine; it bridges their old self-improvement identity to Odessa's story thesis.
  • Post 3's comment prompt matters more than the link — early engagement (any comment) is the signal that tells Facebook to re-widen reach to the dormant list. Reply to every comment fast.

Page "About" / bio copy

Short bio (~101 char cap):

Become who you're trying to become — through story, not willpower. (Formerly HabitForge.)

Longer "About" / description:

Odessa is about the oldest human want there is: becoming someone a little truer than you were yesterday.

We started as HabitForge, back when we thought change was a matter of streaks and discipline. A decade taught us something better: people don't change by forcing new behavior — they change when they can see a different life clearly enough to walk toward it. That's what stories have always done, and that's what we build now.

Same instinct. New name. Glad you're here. 🌱

Cover image text

Keep words big, few, centered. Facebook crops covers hard across devices.

Option A — the throughline (recommended)

  • Main line: Become who you're becoming.
  • Small line: Formerly HabitForge. Now Odessa.

Option B — the reframe (teaches at a glance)

  • Main line: Not more discipline. A clearer picture.
  • Small line: Odessa — change through story.

Design notes:

  • Safe zone: keep all text in the centered ~640×340px region — edges get cropped differently on mobile vs. desktop.
  • Contrast: text needs a solid/darkened backing; keep the bottom-left corner clear (Facebook overlays the page name/photo there).
  • The "formerly HabitForge" line does real work for ~3 months, then swap the cover to drop it — same logic as the name suffix.

Voice guardrail

Copy stays transformation/becoming-oriented and free of hype and consumption metaphors ("eaten/metabolized"), per brand voice.
